Learning to drive a manual car takes a bit more practice early on — but the payoff is worth it. A manual licence in Tasmania lets you drive both manual and automatic vehicles, giving you far more flexibility when it comes to borrowing a car, renting, or buying your first vehicle.
Nick's Driver Training offers manual driving lessons with an accredited instructor who's experienced in guiding learners through every stage of manual driving — from getting comfortable with the clutch and finding the biting point, through to smooth gear changes in traffic, confident hill starts, and everything you'll face on your driving test.
Your lessons are structured around where you're at. Early sessions focus on clutch control and low-speed manoeuvres. As you become more confident, we'll move into real Hobart traffic — roundabouts, intersections, merging, reversing, and parking — building the kind of skill that holds up under pressure on test day.
We're available Monday to Sunday, 8am–5pm, and offer free pickup and dropoff within 3 km of our office.
